A tip for keeping a quiet upper body

Postby Christiano » Mon Mar 03, 2014 8:19 pm

I've been working on keeping my hands and arms from moving at all in order to keep a more still upper body. One thing I learned NOT to do is gripping your poles tightly. This simply causes more impact through your arms and upper body on each pole plant. Instead hold them with a very loose grip. At one point I was barely gripping my poles and was amazed at how light my pole plants were, the minimal impact through the arms, and also how easy it was to flick the pole forward for the pole plant. Give this a try, you might be pleasantly surprised!

Another good drill is to ski without poles once in a while. Also, try the one-handed GoPro selfie, and then try switching hands and maybe see which pole plant gives you more trouble.
